Alex and Joey are identical twins — but don’t let the identical DNA fool you. Alex is a product manager with a love for data and a minimalist coffee order. Joey’s a creative director, mom of two energetic boys, and a fan of eight pumps of sugar syrup before 9 am. They live different lives, but share a few similar habits and an Austin, Texas zip code.
When they decided to wear Lingo biosensors together, they expected similar results. But their glucose told a different story. What followed was smarter fueling, better sleep, and a whole new way to compare notes.
The Lingo program does not guarantee that everyone will achieve the same results as individual responses may vary. Consult your healthcare professional before making changes to your diet or exercise regime or if you have an eating disorder or a history of eating disorders.

Tell us a bit about your background.
Joey: I’m 37, a mom of two, and I’m a creative director by trade. Life is busy — family, work, kids — and it’s hard to slow down.

Coffee with eight pumps of syrup? Joey’s sweet start to her mornings turned into a bigger revelation.
Alex: I work in product management helping bring new therapies to chronic pain patients. I just moved to Austin for my job. Growing up, we kind of split into right brain and left brain — I’m the science nerd, and Joey’s more of the free spirit.

Starting the day with small habits that make a big difference.
What made you try Lingo together?
Alex: I’ve always been into wearables, but I felt like something was missing — I wanted to understand what I was putting into my body. So I asked Joey if she’d wear a biosensor with me.
Joey: I was hesitant at first. I’ve got two kids and not a lot of time. But Alex said it was super easy — and it really was. And painless!

“Didn’t hurt at all. Promise.” – Joey, right before applying her biosensor.
What did you learn from the experience?
Joey: I had a huge “ah-ha moment” the first week. I kept crashing around 3 p.m. and thought it was just normal fatigue. But I realized my daily afternoon granola bar — the one I thought was healthy — was spiking my glucose. I started watching the app and saw the pattern.
Alex: We even tested ice cream together to see how our bodies responded. My glucose rose quickly, and I was kind of blown away by how easy it was to understand. It was eye-opening to see what was going on inside our bodies.
“I had a huge 'ah-ha moment' the first week.” — Joey
Did you make any changes?
Joey: I learned Alex uses way less sugar in her coffee than I do — so I made a big adjustment there. I also started thinking more about how I fuel throughout the day.
Alex: We held each other accountable. It was a journey we got to do together, and it really jumpstarted this next healthy era we’re both looking for.
“I learned that Alex has a lot less sugar in her coffee than I do.” — Joey

Healthy habits, shared moments.
How did it impact your life?
Joey: I feel more energized and more aware. It’s not just about what I eat — it’s about how it affects me. And doing this with Alex made it even more meaningful.
Alex: We just want to live a healthy life and maximize our time together. That’s what this was really about.
“It is eye-opening to know what's going on inside of our bodies.” — Joey
